                     Embracing the Cross ©

I am lost in the folly of what I called

Living to find pleasure in the battle for peace,

When I reached for a sense

Of what I imagined

As the suffering and sorrow release.

What a prideful, silly love affair

With my self in my sense and my mind.

What a misdirected pilgrimage

To think the pain I could leave behind.

No, never do I walk disencumbered

From a cross

From Above or from you

And only my humble embrace and surrender

To a cross is what's fitting and true.

Above Soul ©

The journey to solitude is born in the dark

where grace finds its life,

in the light of the spark that mystery’s seed must seek out;

and mark as the home of its faith, hope and love.

But the world,

It would shine through

our darkest nights;

and give visions,

so to conquer all the lows and the heights;

where we wake to the wonder

of its dazzling sights

and we’re forced from within by a shove.

Till we pray;

with the best of our pilgrims and mates,

and we find;

more the other than we want for our sakes,

through the journey;

out and in of a thousand remakes

because the light from within shines above.

                   The Beginning of the End ©
The day will come, Lord
When finally nothing is sacred,
When my last hour in time will bloom,
When I will see the folly of my pride and the world’s illusion,
When what I look on now as sorrow and darkness will fade to right spiritual sense
And what I truly want will become rather a joy and a light to focus my soul upon only You.
Then what could not be seen as light In my blindness
Through the shadows of cloudy thinking, shady memories and shaded imaginings
Will engulf all my senses and lift my soul above the gravity of time:
I will see only Your light.
I will hear only Your call.
I will feel only Your love and
I will want only the taste and the touch of Your Christ,
The Way, the Truth, the Wisdom, the Heart, the Word, and the Life of all the ages.
I will finally see what I could not see.
What was nothing will be everything and
What seemed everything will be almost gone.
As in all my years, only my fiat will be required;
As in all my fears, only my faith and trust will be asked;
As my last breath nears, only the unknown will be important.
Then all the wrong turns, all the blind alleys, all the dead ends and the black holes,
Everything so well and so intimately known and so personally felt
Will fade for a moment of utter abandonment
In faith to you, O God;
Who, though so often forgotten, too much defined and always maligned,
Will shine as never before for me as
The Good, the Merciful, the Loving, the End
And the Beginning.
