Deuteronomy 6:4 'Our God is ONE'

Hear O Israel!
The LORD is our God,
The LORD alone!
Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God,
With all your heart, and
With all your soul, and
With all your strength.
Take to heart these words
Which I enjoin on you today.

Audi Israel

Dominus Deus noster Dominus unus est

Diliges Dominum Deum tuum

Ex toto corde tuo et

Ex tota anima tua et

Ex tota fortitudine tua

Eruntque verba haec

quae ego praecipio tibi hodie in corde tuo.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 'A Time for Everything'

1 There is an appointed time for everything, and

    a time for every affair under the heavens.
2 A time to be born, and a time to die;
    a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to tear down, and a time to build.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and
    a time to gather them;
    a time to embrace and
    a time to be far from embraces
6 A time to seek, and a time to lose;
    a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew;
    a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
8 A time to love, and a time to hate;
   a time of war and a time of peace.
                              +++++
11 God has made everything
    appropriate to its time and
    God has put the timeless into their hearts
    without men's ever discovering
    from beginning to end
    the work which God has done.
14 I recognized that whatever God does will endure forever;
    there is no adding to it, or taking from it.
    Thus has God done that he may be revered
15 What now is has already been;
     what is to be, already is and
    God restores what would otherwise be replaced
22 And I saw that there is nothing better for a man
    than to rejoice in his work;
    for this is his lot.
    Who will let him see what is to come after him?

Matthew 5:1-14 'The Beatitudes'

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

He began to teach them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me.
   Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
"You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

John 1:1-14 'The Last Gospel'

 In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God
and the Word was God.
The Word was in the beginning with God;
all things were made through Him,
and without Him was made nothing that has been made.
In Him was life,
and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness;
and the darkness grasped it not.
There was a man,
one sent from God,
whose name was John.
This man came as a witness,
to bear witness concerning the Light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not himself the Light,
but was to bear witness to the Light;
the true Light that enlightens every man
that comes into the world.
He was in the world
and the world was made by him,
and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own
and his own received him not.
But to as many as received him,
he gave the power
to become the children of God;
to those who believe in his name;
who were born not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man,
but of God.
And the Word was made flesh
and dwelt among us.
And we saw His glory,
the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
